About

Richard Bank

My name is Richard Bank and I am an artistic nature photographer. Throughout my life I have been captivated by nature and the outdoors. The trees, flowers, bodies of water, landscapes and wildlife continue to fascinate me and I can never get enough. I have also had a strong drive to be creative throughout my life and photography allows me many opportunities to use my imagination. In the spirit of creativity, I wanted to share my favorite quote:

You see things; you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were; and I say ‘Why not?

George Bernard Shaw, Back to Methuselah

The Half-Light Approach

Half-light is a lot like it sounds, the middle point between darkness and light. It occurs during the passage from night into day (dawn) and day into night (dusk). It is the center moment of change. Creatively, it helps me to think of half-light as a living thing that embraces what it was before and what it will become. It is about learning, growing and transformation. With these ideas in mind, representing nature in new, creative and extraordinary ways is the guiding force of my approach to photography. Once a photo is taken, I greatly enjoy processing the new image. It is very exciting being in the middle of what was and what will be. This is time to be creative, push boundaries and try new things! It is a pleasure to share my images with you. I thank you for your interest and hope you find something that catches your eye.
